RIVERSIDE SCHOOL
This new five-story Pre-K through 8th grade school for nearly 700 students occupies the base of a 43-story residential development within the new Riverside Center. The residential portion and school were designed concurrently to ensure both projects’ successful coordination.
The school is organized around an expansive atrium, capped with a large skylight, which serves as a primary gathering and circulation space for the school. Outdoor recreation areas for early childhood and older students are located on the roofs and serve as extensions of the indoor gathering spaces. Teaching spaces are tailored to promote team-teaching through an integrated STEAM program, with more than 20 classrooms, art and music rooms, a science suite, library, gymnasium, gymatorium, and a cafeteria.
