RICHARDSON AVENUE BEAUTIFICATION

Main Street and Richardson Avenue mark the center of Summerville’s downtown and business district. This streetscape and beautification project will re-imagine Richardson Avenue creating outdoor rooms with seating, planter gardens, outdoor dining, kiosks, coordinated street lighting, signage, and spaces for bicycle parking. An additional crosswalk with traffic-calming bulb-outs will be located at the intersection of Short Central to allow pedestrians safe and easy movement.

 

The streetscape treatment will continue along East Richardson Avenue where a new planted median and street trees will be added. The tree canopy will provide shade and give the avenue a sense of definition, inviting passersby to frequent the businesses on this forgotten section of the avenue.
