FIFTH AVENUE RESIDENCE

Overlooking New York's Central Park, this Fifth Avenue apartment’s main focus is the sweeping, unobstructed views of the park's majestic trees. The renovation of this home entailed redirecting and opening its main living spaces toward the large picture windows and strengthening the connection to the park. Through strategic removals of partitions, rearranging and rationalizing interior storage spaces and hallways, the plan was simplified and opened up to views. Even the kitchen, and distant home office area were given direct sight lines to the park.

Designed like a transformable cabin of a sailboat, the office space also converts into a guest room, with two foldout beds and a privacy pocket door that otherwise disappears when not in use. A new, minimalist kitchen and a clean and neutral palette become a canvas for the family’s artwork and display of collectibles.
