CULTURAL ARTS CENTER
As the Lowcountry’s arts epicenter and community hub, the new Cultural Arts Center will offer top quality arts programming, foster creativity, and promote community in a premier 80,000-square-foot facility and campus. Organized around a central atrium and public gathering space, the center will feature a 1,000-seat performance hall, a 250-seat dinner theater, a commercial teaching kitchen, sound stage, dance and movement studios, music rooms, art studios, a maker lab, recording studio, art gallery, cultural library, bookstore, a café, an amphitheater, and sculpture gardens.
Inspired by the Lowcountry’s beautiful and unique natural features, the Center’s architecture and materials evoke majestic live oak tree canopies, Spanish moss, and verdant marsh grasses. The heart of the Center will be a light-filled atrium hosting rotating art and events. In the evening, the atrium will glow like a lantern beckoning residents and visitors to come inside and partake in activities.
The project is currently in concept design with an anticipated completion in 2029.
